AI Ethics Policy

How Findmino uses artificial intelligence responsibly in career guidance for young people.

Last updated: March 2026

At Findmino, we use AI as a tool for career guidance and personal development. We're aware of both the power and the limitations of AI technology, especially when it comes to young people and vulnerable groups. This policy describes how we use AI responsibly, what measures we take to ensure safety, and how we continuously work to improve.

Our core principles

Safety first

The safety of our users — especially minors — always comes first. Our AI systems have comprehensive content filters that block inappropriate topics.

Fairness and transparency

We're open about the fact that we use AI. Our AI is trained to be honest about its limitations and not to make up facts.

People at the centre

AI is a tool, not a replacement. For important decisions, we always refer you to human professionals: guidance counsellors, coaches, therapists.

Privacy and data protection

We process personal data in accordance with the Irish Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR. AI conversations are not used to train models. Users retain control over their data.

Content filters and safety measures

All AI interactions on Findmino are protected by a multi-layered safety system:

Inappropriate topics

Our AI refuses to engage with questions about sexual content, pornography, violence, weapons, drugs, bullying, discrimination and hate speech. The user receives a clear message that the topic is outside the scope of the service.

Self-harm and suicide prevention

If there are signs of severe depression or suicidal thoughts, our AI immediately responds with a referral to professional helplines such as Samaritans Ireland (116 123), Childline (1800 666 666) and Pieta House (1800 247 247). All of these lines are free and confidential.

Anti-hallucination

Our AI systems are explicitly instructed not to make up facts, statistics, sources or references. If the AI is unsure about something, it will say so honestly rather than providing incorrect information.

Double safeguard

We apply both input controls (before the question reaches the AI) and output instructions (in the AI system prompt). This creates a double layer of safety.

Continuous monitoring and improvement

We continuously monitor whether the information our AI provides is relevant, accurate and up to date:

  • Regular evaluation of AI responses for quality and accuracy
  • Updating system prompts based on feedback and new insights
  • Monitoring of blocked messages to improve our filter system
  • Periodic audits of bias and fairness in AI recommendations
  • Compliance with the EU AI Act and GDPR guidelines for AI in education

Protection of minors

A large proportion of our users are secondary school pupils and further education (NFQ 5-6) students. That's why we take extra precautions:

  • Age-appropriate communication and tone in all AI interactions
  • No manipulative or persuasive techniques in AI responses
  • Mandatory referral to human support when emotional or psychological signals are detected
  • School coordinators have visibility into how AI is used within their school environment
  • No use of AI for emotion recognition or behaviour scoring

Data and privacy

We handle personal data in AI interactions with care:

  • AI conversations are not used to train external AI models
  • Personal data is processed in accordance with the Irish Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR
  • Users can view and delete their conversation history
  • We work exclusively with AI providers that comply with European privacy standards
  • Anonymised data may be used to improve our own services

Limitations of AI

We're transparent about what our AI can and can't do:

  • !AI advice is informational, not binding. Important career decisions should always be discussed with a real person.
  • !Our AI can making mistakes. We encourage users to always verify information.
  • !AI is no substitute for a guidance counsellor, psychologist, doctor or other professional.
  • !Labour market information and salary data are estimates based on available data and may differ from reality.

Feedback and contact

We're continuously working to improve our AI. Do you have comments about incorrect information, unexpected behaviour from our AI, or suggestions for improvement? Get in touch with us:

We take every report seriously and actively use feedback to improve our systems.

This policy has been drawn up in line with the EU AI Act, the Irish Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR, and international guidelines for the responsible use of AI in education. It is reviewed at least once a year.
