Anne Heraty grew up in Ireland and went on to pursue third-level education, studying business-related subjects that gave her a strong grounding in commerce and people management. Like many Irish students of her generation, she worked hard through her studies to develop practical skills alongside her academic ones. Her education gave her an understanding of organisations and how they work, which would prove essential later in life.
Career
After graduating, Anne worked in the recruitment industry and quickly saw an opportunity to do things differently and better. In 1989, she co-founded CPL Resources, a recruitment firm that connects businesses with the people they need to grow. Over the following three decades, she led the company as CEO, growing it from a small Irish start-up into one of the largest staffing companies in Europe, listed on the Irish Stock Exchange. Her journey was not without challenge — building a business from scratch requires resilience, especially during economic downturns like the early 1990s recession and the 2008 financial crisis.
