Naturalist & Broadcaster
Naturalist who makes Irish wildlife everyone's business.
Éanna Ní Lamhna grew up in Ireland with a deep curiosity about the natural world around her. She went on to study science at third level, developing a strong grounding in biology and ecology. From an early age, she was the kind of person who actually stopped to look at what was living in the hedgerow or the garden pond — and that habit of careful attention shaped everything that followed.
After completing her studies, Éanna built a career that refused to stay in one lane — she became a biologist, an environmental consultant, a radio and TV presenter, an author, and a teacher all at once. She became one of Ireland's most recognised voices on nature and the environment, landing a spot on Ireland's 'Influential 100' list in 2012. She served as president of An Taisce, the national environmental charity, for five years, and has spent decades making Irish wildlife feel relevant and exciting to ordinary people rather than just specialists.
You don't have to choose between science and communication — Éanna built a career by doing both, and the world is better for it. If you care about something, whether it's nature, climate, or any field at all, finding ways to share that passion with others can be just as powerful as any lab or boardroom.
