Join your local youth council

"What if you ended up advising the council on your own town?"

Why this is so fun

There is something quietly electric about sitting in a proper council chamber and realising your opinion is being written into an actual report. Comhairle na nÓg lets you shape decisions on things like mental health services, public transport, and parks in your own town. You will learn how to argue a case, bring people around to your thinking, and hold your nerve in a room full of adults. Most members are surprised by how fast they go from nervous newcomer to the person everyone else looks to for ideas.

Someone who did this

Seán (33), Dublin — works in IT support for a solicitors' firm, referees junior GAA on weekends

I joined the Comhairle na nÓg for Dublin when I was sixteen and I genuinely did not expect it to last more than one Saturday morning.
