Education

Eddie Jordan grew up in Bray, County Wicklow, and attended Synge Street CBS in Dublin. He wasn't a standout academic student, but he had an sharp mind for numbers and a restless entrepreneurial energy from a young age. After school he trained as an accountant, a practical qualification that would later prove surprisingly useful in the cut-throat world of motorsport.

Career

Eddie started out as a racing driver himself, competing in Formula Three before realising his real talent was for spotting talent in others and building teams around them. He founded Jordan Grand Prix in 1991, taking on the giants of Formula One with far fewer resources than his rivals. The team had legendary highs — including their first race win at Spa in 1998 — but also constant financial pressure and fierce competition. After selling the team in 2005, Eddie reinvented himself as a broadcaster and business pundit, becoming a familiar face on BBC and Channel 4 Formula One coverage.

Key Lesson

Eddie's story shows that you don't have to be the best at the thing you love — sometimes your greatest skill is organising, spotting opportunities, and backing yourself when others won't. A qualification people might consider boring, like accountancy, can be the exact tool that opens an extraordinary door.
