"What if you paddled past seals with the city skyline behind you?"
There is something genuinely surreal about rounding a headland and spotting a grey seal eyeing you from a rock while the Dublin skyline shimmers behind Killiney Hill. You are maybe two kilometres from the DART line, yet it feels like the edge of the world. Paddling teaches you to read the water, trust your own balance, and stay calm when a wave nudges you sideways. It is physical without being brutal, and you will come ashore quietly proud of yourself in a way that is hard to explain to anyone who stayed on land.

I drove up from Carlow on a Saturday in October, which in hindsight was an interesting choice of month.
