One moment you are sitting in a rattling light aircraft watching the Bog of Allen stretch out like a crumpled brown blanket below you, and the next the door is open and the world is very, very loud. The freefall lasts around 30 seconds and your brain genuinely does not know what to do with it. Then the chute opens, everything goes quiet, and you float over the midlands feeling absurdly calm and extremely alive. You will land knowing you did the thing you were most sure you could never do.
