Try Book of Kells-style lettering

"What if you drew a letter the way a monk did in 800 AD?"

Why this is so fun

There is something quietly mad about sitting down with ink and a nib pen and realising that a monk on some windswept island off Donegal did exactly this for years, producing pages so detailed they still stop people dead in the Long Room. Your hand cramps, your first letters look wobbly, and then suddenly one stroke lands perfectly and you understand the obsession. You slow down in a way modern life rarely lets you. You also walk away with a genuine, hand-made piece of art that is entirely yours.

Someone who did this

Fionn (22), Cavan — warehouse operative, builds model trains nobody asked him to build

My mate Darragh was doing a calligraphy workshop at the Chester Beatty up in Dublin and I only went along because I had a free Saturday and the bus from Cavan was €14 return.
