Write a short story and submit it

"What if a stranger read your story out on national radio?"

Why this is so fun

There is something quietly electric about finishing a story and sending it out into the world with your name on it. You find out fast that you have a voice worth hearing, and that the act of shaping real life into fiction changes how you see everything around you. Imagine someone in a car on the M50, half-listening to RTÉ Radio 1, suddenly gripping the steering wheel because your words caught them off guard. That possibility alone is worth sitting down and writing the thing.

Someone who did this

Seán (36), Donegal Town — site foreman, reads more than he lets on

I wrote the thing in longhand first, which was a mistake because my handwriting after about nine in the evening is basically hieroglyphics.
