Learn beekeeping with a local association

"What if you kept 50,000 bees and jarred your own honey?"

Why this is so fun

There is something quietly extraordinary about opening a hive for the first time and realising you are not afraid. Fifty thousand bees hum around you and you move slowly, deliberately, and they let you. Beekeeping teaches you patience in a way nothing else quite does. Come late summer, you will crack open a jar of honey made from whatever is flowering in your corner of Clare or Kilkenny or Galway, and it will taste like nowhere else on earth. That is not a metaphor. It genuinely will.

Someone who did this

Bríd (31), Portlaoise — works in payroll for a logistics company, grows tomatoes badly every summer

I signed up for the Laois beekeeping course through FIBKA half expecting to drop out after the first session, the way I did with the pottery.
