Take a night course in photography

"What if you learned to use the camera properly instead of the filter?"

Why this is so fun

There is a particular thrill in finally understanding why a shot works instead of just hoping the filter saves it. You start noticing light differently, on a misty Connemara morning, in a packed chipper at midnight, everywhere. A weekly critique session with other learners is surprisingly addictive, a little nerve-wracking, and genuinely sharpens your eye fast. You discover patience you did not know you had, and that the world is more interesting when you are actually looking at it.

Someone who did this

Aoife (25), Roscommon — dental receptionist, keeps a very serious spreadsheet of every coffee shop she has visited

I had a Canon DSLR sitting in its bag under my bed for two years because my cousin gave it to me and I was too embarrassed to admit I had no idea what any of the dials did.
